My studies in health and fitness began out of necessity. By the age of 16, I was dealing with ongoing pain issues from sports injuries that "never healed." By the time I was in my mid twenties, I wasn't able to participate in any of the sports and physical activities I enjoyed.

Every year, I sought help from various experts. I was diligent with my exercises. I spent most my available finances on treatments and training plans that didn't seem to help. I learned everything I could about health and movement, and I still wasn't getting results. Solving my issues required a paradigm shift...

"Everything you have ever felt or done in your life was due to brain function. At the most basic level, the intricate firing rates and patterns of your brain both determine who you have been and, more importantly, who you will become. At the most basic level, all human change represents changes in that individual’s nervous system. All that we are is brain-derived."

The fact of the matter is, most of our educational models fail to understand some major components of human movement. The brain is a primary driver for all of it, and it cannot be separated from the musculoskeletal system. The 'software' tells the 'hardware' what to do. When we assess the 'hardware' without a solid grasp of how the 'software' works, we sometimes end up missing important details. We may even fundamentally misunderstand what it is that we're trying to accomplish.

This was the turning point for me: understanding that all exercises target brain areas as well as muscles and joints. Once I learned how to work with the brain, and all the different systems that impact it, it took less than a year to solve the pain issues I had been dealing with for half of my life.

And it wasn't just chronic pain. I struggled with depression, anxiety, ADHD, insomnia, IBS, nausea and fatigue. Now, after 6 years of studying and applying neurology, nutrition and metabolics, I've seen changes in almost every aspect of my life.
